Cellulite: What Is It and How To Address It?
Many women and men develop cellulite as they age. Cellulite tends to affect women more than men and this is believed to be partly due to the biological reason that women tend to have higher fat deposits than men. Estrogens hormones have also been identified as contributors to cellulite deposits. Cellulite deposits can happen even when the person is not overweight. It is a natural byproduct of aging that occurs when the tissues supporting fat deposits in the body are breaking down and are decreasing due to aging. The faster the reduction in the supportive tissues, the higher likelihood of cellulite deposits in the body. Cellulite tends to accumulate on the thighs, buttocks, hips and abdomen but can be seen in other parts of the body too. The higher the body fat mass, the more likely it is to have a lot of cellulite deposits. Genetics, pregnancy, and lifestyle choices also contribute to cellulite development and we consider these as well as body fat mass and chronological age during our consultation.
Can Cellulite Be Prevented?: While developing cellulite may be inevitable due to the aging process, there are things you can do to prevent cellulite from worsening and to improve the cellulite that’s already formed. Improved dietary regimen, exercising, products and treatments can help prevent worsening cellulite and improve cellulite. We also get asked whether cellulite can go away on its own. It does not. Without intervention, cellulite will continue to degrade and appear worse.
Why Does Your Approach Work for Cellulite?: We have products and treatments that combine well to kill the deposited fat cells underneath the skin, improve lymphatic drainage (this helps with proper elimination of the dead fat cells), tighten and smooth the skin, and encourage regeneration of supportive tissues such as collagen and elastin.
How Long Before Results Are Seen?: We typically see noticeable improvements in the skin as soon as the first treatment. The higher the cellulite deposits, the longer it takes for all of it to improve. Dietary regimen, exercise regimen and lifestyle choices also impact the results. This is why we provide pre- and post-care recommendations and products that help our clients achieve their results.
